What is BAQSIMI?

For anyone on insulin, having a low blood sugar emergency can be a reality. BAQSIMI is the first and only dry nasal spray that can treat low blood sugar emergencies. It is a form of glucagon given as a puff in the nose.

How BAQSIMI works

Glucagon is a naturally occurring hormone that works by telling your liver to bring blood sugar back up. The glucagon in BAQSIMI is the same active ingredient that has been around for decades. In a clinical study, BAQSIMI was shown to work as well as glucagon for injection to raise blood sugar in adults. BAQSIMI comes in a single dose that is the same for people age 4 years and older.

BAQSIMI can be used before you pass out. It should still be given in a low blood sugar emergency even if you are passed out, because BAQSIMI does not need to be inhaled. It should be given even if your nose is congested or you have used decongestants.

When you need a medication others can use to help you in a low blood sugar emergency, that’s where BAQSIMI comes in. BAQSIMI can help when glucose tabs, sugar, or oral carbs can’t. Find out more about when to use BAQSIMI and how to use it.

SELECT IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION

How is BAQSIMI different?

In a low blood sugar emergency, you may need something other than oral carbs, like orange juice or candy, to recover. BAQSIMI can get low blood sugar back up when you can’t safely eat or drink oral carbs. It’s different from other low blood sugar emergency treatments because it’s given as a puff in the nose instead of as an injection. BAQSIMI is small and easy to have on hand in an emergency. Because BAQSIMI doesn’t have to be refrigerated, you can keep your BAQSIMI with you, whether you’re at school, at work, or on the go.

BAQSIMI is not for everyday ups and downs in blood sugar, it’s for a low blood sugar emergency. Find out more about when to use BAQSIMI.
