[Animation: Swooping colored swatches dive across the screen to build the words, “BAQSIMI Presents ComeBAQ Stories.” The animation evolves into a nighttime scene of a house in a hilly countryside, with stars above and fireflies flickering in the fields. We’re introduced to real HAILEY, with long brown hair and wearing a green blouse with pockets.]
HAILEY: My husband… he works nights and days, and it seems like during the nighttime is when I have the majority of my severe lows. Anxiety kicks in a little bit at that point. It’s just one of those things that you have to be prepared for every second of every day and night.
[Animation: HAILEY is seen through a window, reclining in an easy chair and reading a book. On the table next to her, we see a box with a BAQSIMI label. A family photo appears on the table: HAILEY, her husband ERIC, and their young daughter.]
HAILEY: To have my husband in my life and for him to be my support is something that I can’t really put into words. Without him, I might not be here today.
[Animation: The bedroom lights go dark with a click, and the screen fades to black.]
CAPTION: HAILEY, a Real BAQSIMI Patient
[The camera opens on HAILEY, who laughs and gives a smile to the camera.]
HAILEY: I’m HAILEY. I’ve been married to my husband for five years now, and then my daughter… she is 9 years old. We live a very simple but happy life, in a very small but simple town. [HAILEY laughs.]
HAILEY: Managing diabetes… it’s one of those things that is very, very, very hard.
[The camera opens to HAILEY’s husband, ERIC: clean shaven and wearing a blue button-down shirt.]
ERIC: The first time I met HAILEY, she mentioned, you know, she could have a low blood sugar emergency and to be prepared and what to do. I was kind of like ‘oh man!’ You know, I’ve had basic first aid training before in the Coast Guard and at my jobs, but, you know, nothing to prepare you for something like that.
[Animation: The camera looks through the kitchen window, and animated ERIC pours HAILEY a glass of juice as she takes a piece of hard candy from a dish on the table.]
[HAILEY speaks on-camera.]
HAILEY: Your heart starts racing out of nowhere. Your breathing gets really, um, quick? Yeah it’s… it’s scary. [HAILEY laughs.]
[HAILEY and ERIC sit by each other’s side and speak.]
HAILEY: They got to the point where I needed to go find a plan, a backup plan. And I went to my endocrinologist and she, uh, she recommended the BAQSIMI.
[Animation: A BAQSIMI box appears, and a sealed tube of BAQSIMI appears.]
CAPTION: Please see full instructions for use at BAQSIMI.com
ERIC: It looked like a nasal spray you get at, uh, any drugstore. You know, you pull the plastic off and enter it in the nasal cavity and squeeze it and it gives them the glucagon to raise your blood sugar.
[Animation: The tube falls away and we see the BAQSIMI device in an animated hand.]
CAPTION: Keep tube sealed until ready to use. For instructions on how to use, go to BAQSIMI.com
[HAILEY speaks on-camera.]
HAILEY: So, we get the prescription filled. And um the next day, it’s business as usual. And then that very night was when I had my worst low blood sugar emergency. We were actually asleep when this happened. My husband told me that he heard a loud thud. And apparently, I either tried to get out of bed to go help myself, or just fell out of the bed.
[Animation: Looking through the bedroom window of the house, we see a bed, observe some rustling, and then hear a gentle thud, as if somebody had fallen out of bed. ERIC turns on a bedside lamp.]
[ERIC appears on-camera.]
ERIC: I got up and ran around to the bed and she was on the ground and not responsive, and we had just got the BAQSIMI filled. So, you know, I grabbed it from our spot out the drawer you know, and I administered BAQSIMI, and she was back with us before the ambulance even got here.
[Animation: The nightstand drawer opens and a box of BAQSIMI pops out. The box opens and the BAQSIMI tube lands in ERIC’s hand.]
CAPTION: Keep tube sealed until ready to use. For instructions on how to use, go to BAQSIMI.com
[HAILEY appears.]
HAILEY: [Sobs gently.] I’m sorry… he was able… he was able to… help me come back. And… [trails off with an emotional laugh]
[ERIC appears.]
ERIC: You know, just grateful. You know, happy we had it.
[HAILEY appears.]
HAILEY: It’s almost like, a fire drill. You gotta, you gotta go through it and with your whole family and let them know exactly what to do, the steps to take, and to be prepared. Everybody in our family in our household knows and we decided to let our neighbors know as well, how to use it. And from now forward I’m prepared. We’re all prepared now, with BAQSIMI.
[ERIC appears.]
ERIC: I never knew how hard this, uh, disease was until I met her. I think it’s made her strong and an even better mother than she already is.
[HAILEY appears with their daughter, who is wearing an aqua bow in her hair. They hug enthusiastically. The camera cuts to HAILEY and ERIC sitting together on-camera.]
HAILEY: I’m grateful for him because he was there at the moment that I needed somebody the very most and, um… and he helped me. He revived me. He, he got me to come back.
[Animation: HAILEY and their daughter are in the front yard of their home, at night, catching fireflies together.]
HAILEY: There is a safety net out there. There is a plan, and it’s in one little package form and that’s BAQSIMI.
[Animation: The nighttime home scene brightens as the day comes. The sun rises as the view pulls back to show their little town, with HAILEY waving as the view pans up into the sky. Swooping colored swatches dive across the screen to build the words, “BAQSIMI Presents ComeBAQ Stories.”]
HAILEY: I’m HAILEY, and this is my ComeBAQ Story.

Indication
BAQSIMI® is indicated for the treatment of severe hypoglycemia in adult and pediatric patients with diabetes ages 1 year and above.
Important Safety Information
Contraindications
BAQSIMI is contraindicated in patients with pheochromocytoma because of the risk of substantial increase in blood pressure, insulinoma because of risk of hypoglycemia, and prior hypersensitivity reaction to glucagon or to any of the excipients in BAQSIMI. Allergic reactions have been reported with glucagon and include anaphylactic shock with breathing difficulties and hypotension.
Warnings and Precautions
BAQSIMI is contraindicated in patients with pheochromocytoma because glucagon may stimulate release of catecholamines from the tumor. If the patient develops a substantial increase in blood pressure and a previously undiagnosed pheochromocytoma is suspected, 5 to 10 mg of phentolamine mesylate, administered intravenously, has been shown to be effective in lowering blood pressure.
In patients with insulinoma, administration of glucagon may produce an initial increase in blood glucose; however, BAQSIMI administration may directly or indirectly (through an initial rise in blood glucose) stimulate exaggerated insulin release from an insulinoma and cause hypoglycemia. BAQSIMI is contraindicated in patients with insulinoma. If a patient develops symptoms of hypoglycemia after a dose of BAQSIMI, give glucose orally or intravenously.
Serious hypersensitivity reactions have been reported with glucagon products, including generalized rash, and in some cases anaphylactic shock with breathing difficulties and hypotension. Discontinue BAQSIMI if symptoms of serious hypersensitivity reactions occur. Advise patients and/or caregivers to seek immediate medical attention if the patient experiences any symptoms of serious hypersensitivity reactions. BAQSIMI is contraindicated in patients with a prior hypersensitivity reaction.
BAQSIMI is effective in treating hypoglycemia only if sufficient hepatic glycogen is present. Patients in states of starvation, with adrenal insufficiency or chronic hypoglycemia may not have adequate levels of hepatic glycogen for BAQSIMI administration to be effective. Patients with these conditions should be treated with glucose.
Patients with insufficient hepatic stores of glycogen may not respond to BAQSIMI for the treatment of severe hypoglycemia. Insufficient hepatic stores of glycogen may be present in conditions such as states of starvation or in patients with adrenal insufficiency or chronic hypoglycemia.
Adverse Reactions
Most common (≥10%) adverse reactions associated with BAQSIMI are nausea, vomiting, headache, upper respiratory tract irritation (i.e., rhinorrhea, nasal discomfort, nasal congestion, cough, and epistaxis), watery eyes, redness of eyes, and itchy nose, throat and eyes.
The following clinically significant adverse reactions are described elsewhere in labeling:
- Substantial Increase in Blood Pressure in Patients with Pheochromocytoma
- Hypoglycemia in Patients with Insulinoma
- Serious Hypersensitivity Reactions
- Lack of Efficacy in Patients with Decreased Hepatic Glycogen
Drug Interactions
Patients taking beta-blockers may have a transient increase in pulse and blood pressure when given BAQSIMI. In patients taking indomethacin, BAQSIMI may lose its ability to raise blood glucose or may even produce hypoglycemia. BAQSIMI may increase the anticoagulant effect of warfarin.
